Gunblade

Official Guide: Squall uses a sword called the Gunblade. This rare weapon takes many, many years to master and is therefore rarely used. Currently, there is only one other Gunblade user in Balamb Garden -- Seifer Almasy. With the Gunblade, Sqaull can unleash his special skill, Renzokuken, a deadly series of punishing attacks sometimes followed by a powerful ending move.

How to use the Gunblade to your advantage

One of my personal favorite parts about this game is the unique ability on using Squall's Gunblade. When in battle, you can increase the damage on the enemy by using the R1 trigger. The player pushes the button just before Squall slashes the enemy. The timing can be a bit troublesome, but the key is to listen for the swipe of the Gunblade. Once you hear it, hit trigger! A way to indicate if it was successful or not is the puff of fire coming from the enemy. You'll also notice the damage has been raised than when he normally attacks an enemy.

Limit Breaks

A list of Squall Limit breaks. The limit breaks to excellent damgage and can be used many time in a row in battle. Unfortunately, Squall's heath must be low in order to use them. The only way Squall can get more limit breaks is by upgrading his weapon to a new one. Descriptions are from the Official Guide.

Rough Divide
Squall finishes his Limit Break by charging at a single enemy and performing a rising slash.

Fated Circle
After leaping into the air, Squall twirls his Gunblade and releases a shockwave of energy that hits all enemies

Blasting Zone
A column of light shoots out of Squall's Gunblade, which he uses to crush his foes.

Lion Heart
Squall knocks a single enemy into the air, and then unleashes a devastating flurry of attacks. This is Squall's stronges Limit Break in the game.
