Self-consciousness
...I worry too much about what other people think of me. I hate that side of me...That's why I didn't want anyone to get to know me. I wanted to hide that side of myself. I hate it. Squall is an unfriendly, introverted guy. It made it easy for me when people perceived me that way... Squall is very self-conscience. We all are, to some extent. But, he cares so much, more than anything, and he hates it. Therefore, he wears a sort of mask to make everyone think that part of his doesn't exist. He wants everyone to know that he is the complete opposite of that. The problem is, is that he's at a constant battle with himself. He tries to rid himself of this internal conflict by changing himself, but no avail. No matter how hard he tries, he can't get rid of the person he really is. Deep down, he's soft, and actually does care about things. He doesn't want anyone to know about it though. So, he keeps everything to himself, afraid of letting someone getting to know him. That way, he doesn't have to worry so much about how other people perceive him. He's very introverted; he refuses to share his problems with others, or even talk to them at all. One other important characteristic that Squall hates about himself is his desire to be dependent on someone. He has grown to convince himself that he doesn't need anyone to simply survive. However, in a way, he's still that same, sad child waiting for someone to be there for him. I mean, can you really completely change a person? He still hasn't moved on from how he used to be. Even after all those years trying to be someone he wasn't, he is still, and will always be, that person inside.
